Pixazza: Converting Images Into Commerce

It’s 9:17 and I decided to wind down for the evening. My secret shame? The online gossip mags. A very distinguished colleague of mine has the same vice so every now and then we like to one up each other on the audacity of what certain websites report as “news”.

Well tonight wasn’t any different – as scrolled through salacious headline after headline, an image of the R&B pop star Ciara caught my attention. Down the right side of her body were three distinct yellow dots. Curious I rolled over them, which revealed pieces of her outfit which correlated to the yellow buttons on the image.


Images are taking over the web and when Facebook sees their users spending over 700 billion minutes per month on the social network while browsing more than 30 billion pieces of content (web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photo albums, etc.), well you can see why the world of e-commerce is quickly evolving to include hot linking of contextual imagery to products displayed.

Pixazza, the vendor that enabled the hot linking within the gossip site I was viewing, has a great product on its hands. I’ll be interested to see how retailers use it in the near future.
